Ariel Gail

Professor Gail S. Goodman is the Distinguished Professor of Psychology as well as Director of the Center for Public Policy Research at the University of California Davis. She is widely acknowledged as the pioneer of modern research of child eyewitness memories and using child victims to testify as legal witnesses. Professor Goodman is a prolific writer and has been awarded several awards and grants. She has advised many authorities and government agencies around the globe on policies and research relating to the treatment of child victims by the legal system. She currently acts as a consultant to the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center located at Sacramento County Child Protective Services (formerly Multidisciplinary Interview Center). She is a member of a variety of professional organizations, including Association for Psychological Science and American Psychological Association. Professor. Goodman is a fellow of the Psychonomics Society Society for Research in Child Development American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She has served as president of three divisions (Division Society for Policy and Child Development and Practice Division, American Psychology Law Society and Division Developmental Psychology) and one Section (Child Maltreatment) of the American Psychological Association.
