An adult is a human or other animal that has attained full growth.The biological definition of the term is the animal has reached sexual maturity, and therefore capable of reproducing. In the realm of human beings, adult refers to social and legal concepts. A legal adult is, as opposed to "minors" (also known as non-adults) are those who are older than the average age and thus considered to be independent, responsible as well as autonomous. The term "major" is a term applied to them. It is generally accepted that the threshold at which an individual becomes a legal adult is 18. But, it can vary depending on legal rights and the country of origin and also on the psychological state.

The stage of development for humans during which physical and mental maturity has been reached. Commonly, adulthood begins around age 21, or 20. The middle age stage, which begins approximately 40 years of age, is followed by an ageing process that can last up to 60 years. Adulthood can be divided into three phases that are: early adulthood (18-mid-30s) and mid-30s to mid-60s and the final stage of adulthood, mid-60s to end of life. When we enter an early age (20 to the early 40s) our physical growth has been completed, however our height and weight could increase a bit. As we grow older, we are at the peak of our physical ability.
